AUSFINE WOOL COMPANY PTY LTD
AUSFINE - “it’s Traditional ”
What is it?
AUSFINE is a brand name and registered trademark for use as a commercial vehicle for traditional superfine woolgrowers, ram breeders and sheep producers to identify, differentiate and promote their product. AUSFINE Pty Ltd licences the use of the brand name and trademark.
AUSFINE WOOL COMPANY is a proprietary limited company which has been formed to manage and direct the licensed use of the brand name and trademark in relation to all aspects of wool and sheep production, education, quality standards and marketing within Australia.
Who is it for?

AUSFINE Wool Company membership is for producers of quality, traditionally prepared and grown superfine wool for the premium superfine spinners markets of the world, and producers of traditional superfine rams and sheep bred for superfine wool production for offer at local sales - selected to use the brand name and trademark.
Why the need?
- International consumer trends are demanding identifiable market brands, particularly in the luxury product area.
- Lack of suitable educational programs for today’s growers of superfine wool.
- The past 10 years has seen the emergence in the Australian superfine industry of two distinct, volume produced, types of fine wool testing similar readings and being identified similarly, yet they are definitely not and need to be clearly identified and segregated.
- Quality, traditional superfine wool has been getting harder to source for buyers of premium and spinners types, even whilst fine wool production has increased markedly over the past years.
- The general quality and preparation of the super fine clip needs to be improved, as well as the volume produced.
- To protect and expand the genetic base of the traditional Australian, part Saxon blood, superfine Merino, as more growers follow the current trend away to a different type fine wool.
- Woolgrower leadership and direction is required at a time when traditional management, classing, preparation and breeding techniques are being lost to the industry in general.
- Current woolgrower representative bodies are not restrictive in terms of the members product and it’s quality, and thus, does not reflect or imply quality commercial practice of their members.
- Lack of success of previous, high cost operations (funded by woolgrowers, but managed by others) to market brand the entire Australian wool clip.

A superior product deserves recognition.
