How the world’s best merino began
A small group of passionate Australian merino growers was concerned about a disturbing trend. Superfine merino was being produced that delivered a low micron count but with a loss of other important merino values. To preserve the integrity of traditional, superfine Australian Merino, we created Ausfine.
The Ausfine charter
Gathering together a select group of Australian farmers, we developed the Ausfine charter. This strict code of practice ensures that the merino produced on Ausfine farms isn’t just fine in diameter but possesses the traditional qualities that have made merino the most miraculous fibre on the planet.
Genius through genetics
To ensure that our rams and ewes have the characteristics necessary to produce the best merino in the world, we developed a genetic breeding program to which all Ausfine farms must adhere.

At Ausfine we are not just dedicated to producing the world’s finest merino. We also insist that our members practise sustainable farming because we want to preserve not just merino, but this great Australian land.
Natural selection
The Ausfine charter is stringent, and few are able to satisfy its requirements. In fact, less than two hundred farms have been certified to stamp their bales with the Ausfine brand. It’s this unyielding commitment to quality that has made Ausfine superfine merino the world’s best.
